Solarwise - Natural Building and Design is a family run business with over forty years of collective construction experience.  We believe in creating energy and resource efficient designs that are built with passion and pride.  In particular, we have been involved with many great straw bale projects around the state and in recent years, we have emerged as a leader of designing and building with straw bales in Colorado.  

Timothy "Timbo" Scursso - Owner, Designer, Builder, Son

Timbo was born in Connecticut in 1975.  As a young boy, he helped his father, Ralph, build and remodel several residential homes.  He also taught himself how to design and draw through the use of Computer Aided Drafting.  His passion for designing and building brought him to Wentworth Institute of Technology and then on to Virginia Polytechnic Institute of Technology where he studied architecture for three years.  Concerned about how conventional architecture was lacking environmental and social responsibility, Timbo switched his studies to an ecology based education.  He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resources. 

Educated and experienced in design, construction, and the environment, Timbo's natural progression was to combine all those skills as a natural designer and builder.  He has been involved with the natural building movement since 2000.

Ralph Scursso - Master Electrician, Builder, Father

In 1979, Ralph became a master electrician.  At that time, he had acquired his license faster than any other person in the state of Connecticut.  Ralph's employment history is testimony to his many years of experience.  He has performed in the capacity of a self-employed electrical contractor,  electrical foreman for a hospital, general foreman on a university campus project, as well as, being the general foreman for several department stores.

With a total of 34 years of electrical experience under his belt, Ralph recently decided to move to Colorado in effort to share his business and construction experience with both his son and their customers.  He joins the Solarwise team not only as a master electrician, but as an accomplished builder.  Throughout the years, Ralph has renovated and built numerous multi-family residences.
